    Lignosulfonates

Lignosulfonates are a mixture of sodium-based polymers of lignosulfonic acid salts. They are formed during the pulp and paper production process (sulfite pulping). Lignosulfonates are available in liquid and powder form.

    Advantages

The beneficial properties of lignosulfonate include high surface activity and good solubility in water. The substance is non-allergenic, has no pronounced irritant effect, is low in toxicity, and belongs to the lowest hazard class (not 4).

    Applications

They are used in many industries:

    • in the production of building materials (concrete, cement, dry construction mixes) as a binder and adhesive,
    • in the oil industry as a reagent for regulating the parameters of drilling fluids,
    • in the chemical industry as a stabilizer,
    • in the metallurgical industry,
    • in the production of paints and varnishes and pigments, etc.

The use of sodium-based lignosulfonates, which are hydrophilic plasticizers, in the production of concrete and dry construction mixes reduces the consumption of components (cement) by 10-15%. It also reduces the segregation of the concrete mix, increases its density, and slows the curing rate.

Lignosulfonates are added to the cement-raw material or concrete mix at a rate of 0.15-0.20%, while superplasticizers should be added at a rate of 0.5-2.0% of the dry cement weight. Replacing superplasticizers with lignosulfonates increases concrete strength by 20-25%, frost resistance by 3-4 times, and significantly reduces the cost of the mixes due to the addition of a small amount of lignosulfonates, which is associated with their adsorption on the surface of the solid phase. The use of lignosulfonates reduces the moisture content of the raw slurry while maintaining its fluidity, which increases kiln productivity and reduces the specific fuel consumption for clinker firing.

The use of lignosulfonate-based intensifiers increases the productivity of grinding units and makes it possible to replace expensive and scarce chemical products. Packaging

Powdered technical lignosulfonate is packaged in multi-layer paper bags, soft polypropylene containers with polyethylene liners, or big bags weighing up to 650 kg.

The substance can be transported by any method, provided general rules for the transportation of goods are observed and the raw materials are kept dry.
